Sometimes the harm caused by a dishonest employer, a falsely-advertised product or a privacy violation is not large enough to make an individual lawsuit make sense. But if the same or similar harm has been inflicted on a large number of victims, a class action on behalf of everyone in the same situation may provide the only real hope for receiving compensation for the harm done – and the only way to prevent the corporate wrongdoer from keeping the fruits of its misconduct.
